Shattered

~Starting POV~

Sumi Higashi, a 13 year old Jounin, was just returning from a mission with her squad. They walked through the forest terrain, chatting happily. "Yeah, yeah. But I was the real hero today!!" Sudo Masashi laughed, posing. Sumi rolled her eyes. "Oh yeah, you were on fire when you passed out," she laughed, punching him lightly in the arm. Tsuki Gakai was rummaging through her bag, and Sumi looked over her shoulder. Tsuki looked up. "Why're you looking over my shoulder?" she asked, giving her hilariously stupid look. Though Sumi new very well she wasn't an idiot.

"Just wondering why you're being all depressing..." Tsuki pulled out a silk ribbon, and closed her bag. "Ooh! That's such a pretty hair tie!! But you've got..." Tsuki smiled. "Short hair? I know, it's for you." Sumi's mouth dropped. "That's right!! It's the 5th year anneversary of when our team became a team!!" Sudo exclaimed, smiling widely. Tsuki tied the ribbon in Sumi's hair, and ran her fingers lightly through the scarlet strands.

"It's got a collection of chakra in it; so when you're hurt, it automatically heals your wounds." Tsuki kept combing Sumi's hair. "You have such pretty hair, Sumi. It's not fair," Tsuki said, envy in her voice. Sumi smiled, and poked Tsuki in between her eyes. "You're the one who's unfair. Your eyes are the color of emeralds. I've got red ones. You think the guys in the village like to think how demonized I am?" We both burst out laughing.

"What do you think Sudo?" We turned around, but he was gone. "Wait one sec!!" we heard him yell somewhere in the forest. He soon came back, with two of the most beautiful flowers Tsuki and Sumi had ever seen. "W-where did you find those!?!" Tsuki cooed, admiring the flowers. Sudo grinned, "When we were at that village a few miles back, I met up with a guy I'd been talking to through air mail." He handed Tsuki and Sumi a flower each, and they put them in their hair. "They don't die, and they're REALLY hard to find," he said, rubbing the back of his neck.

Tsuki smiled, and pulled out another item from her pocket. It was a gold chain necklace, and the stone embedded in it changed colors. "It's not real gold, but the stone is," she mumbled; embarassed. Sumi knew she had a crush on Sudo, and giggled as she put it around his neck. His face held shock, joy, and embarassment as he held the stone in his hand, admiring it. "Th-thankyou Tsuki!!" he studdered, obviously happy with his beautiful gift.

Sumi smiled, happy they were getting to bond. Then, they turned to her. "So, Sumi? Did you get anything?" Sumi smiled, and turned away. "Nope." Tsuki and Sudo's jaws dropped. "B-but! It's our-" Sumi turned around, trying not to laugh. "I'm kidding!!" They both let out a deep sigh of relief. "D-don't scare us like that," Tsuki sighed, "we were about to beat the crap out of you." Sumi laughed, and pulled out a scroll. Unraveling it, she sat down and bit her thumb.

Pushing out the blood, she wrote a few symbols down. The other two watched in curiosity, wondering what she was doing. The peice of parchment began to glow, and two orbs of brilliant light were summoned. Sumi took each one in her hands, and muttered a few words. The left hand's orb turned into a small figurine in the shape of a sparkling fox. The right turned into a crystal fire lily.

Tsuki and Sudo's mouths hung open, as did their eyes, as they stared in awe at the two figurines. Carfully, Sumi handed the fox to Sudo, and the fire lily to Tsuki. "They're made up of a special matter that is only found in the land of snow. Remember when we went on a mission up there? Well I snagged some..." Tsuki stared at me, "But that was 3 years ago!" Sumi held up a hand. "I always got crappy gifts before, but not this year. This year; you're getting this."

The both cupped the figures. "How are we supposed to-" Sudo was interupted by Sumi. "They don't break after 5 minutes of being sculpted, it's what's so special about them." Tsuki and Sudo lunged for Sumi. "Thankyou!!" they laughed, on the verge of tears. Sumi patted their heads. "You guys, we'd better get moving or we'll be late."

After a few hours, the three arrived at their village. "It's awfully quite, don't you think?" Sudo said, a bit unsettled on why their usually loud town was deathly silent. "It's not morning of night...so nobody should be asleep..." Tsuki said cautiously. Sumi snorted, "Since when does anybody in this town sleep?" The other two agreed, and they all decided to split up.

~Tsuki's POV~

As I walked to the right of town, I didn't hear anything. "This is really creepy..." I said, shivering. Something bad must have happened, I'm sure of it. I crept along the deserted streets, peering though a few shop windows. Nobody could be found. I ran to my house, and threw open the door. Blackness. Nobody was in the living room like usual. "Mother!?" I yelled, scared.

I ran up the stairs, stumbling as I shook with terror. "Father!?!" I screamed, panicking. I tore through the house, no sound reaching my ears. I met the end of the hall. I could feel that something I did not want to see was behind the door. I reached out, whimpering, for the door. Grabbing the door, I slid it open. I looked inside. "Father..? Mother...?" I got no response.

I carefully walked inside, jumping at the creaking noises my feet made on the floor. Nothing was here. I screamed as I heard a clatter from downstairs. "Tsuki?" Sudo called. I sighed relieved, "I'm up h-" I was cut off by a knife slicing across my throat.

~Sumi's POV~

I heard the scream from the other end of the village. It was Tsuki. No...I knew it. I shouldn't have let them split up... I ran as fast as I could, slamming into Tsuki's wall. Another scream. This time it was from upstairs, and it was Sudo. "Sudo!?! Tsuki!?!" I ripped through her house, climbing the stairs-which seemed to grow as I climbed.

I finally reached the 2nd floor, and stood in horror at the scene before me. A group of Mist ninjas stood over my friends, who were covered in red liquid. Or as most would call it, blood. I screamed, and they snapped towards my direction. I could barely see through my tears, but I heard them coming.

I charged forward, snatching one of the ninja's kantana and yanking it from his grasp. Two of the ninja came from my left, and I swung the weapon their way, slicing the left's chest. Too shallow. I blocked an attack with the kantana; and pushed the Mist ninja back. I took my knife; and struck him on the neck. "How dare you..." I heard one of the others yell.

"How dare I!?! You killed my family, my village, my friends!" I shreiked, lunging forward and cutting ninjas in various places. I spun around just in time to catch a kunai aimed for my back. "ENOUGH!!" I roared, preforming my blood line's jutsu. The purple chakra enveloped my body, and I screamed, as I burst into a sprint at the group of ninjas who were left.

I felt my skin burn under the chakra, but I felt numb. What could I loose? I now had nothing. I cut through them like butter, and ended my assult. I was right, I had burnt my skin. I was bleeding badly, and my ivory skin was red. I knew I'd be okay if I gave myself a chance to rest, but I didn't want to.

I ran towards my friends; who still lay on the floor. Tsuki's throat was cut, and Suda had a sword through his torso. "No..." I whispered. "Damnit I knew we should have never split up!!" I cried, hovering over my best friends. I sat there for a while, and soaked in what had happened. I couldn't stay here.

After burying them, I searched the rest of the village for Mist ninjas. I found a few dead ones, but no bodies of my village. That is, until I found the pile of ashes near the back of town. I dug a large pit, and scooped the ashes into it. I did not cry anymore. I couldn't, I'd use up all my tears.

Walking out of the village with a trap, backpack of food to last me a few months, and map of the country, I walked down the path. I still wore Tsuki's ribbon and Suda's flower, along with the necklace, the other flower, and both of my presents to them. I wasn't going to let some grave robber have them. That is, if they could get past the various traps I set just for them.

"Let my loved ones rest in peace, as well as my former self," I said softly as I placed Sudo's favorite mask on.

~Kisame's POV~

"Heh. You're brother and Orochimaru huh?" I laughed. Itachi did not speak. After learning that his brother had joined Oreo in order to kill him, he didn't say much. "Ah, don't worry Itachi...Orochimaru and Sasuke couldn't even make a scratch on you. I doubt that anything bad will happ-" Itachi glared at me. "Drop it." I raised an eyebrow. "Sheesh...bust a nut why don't you?" He once again didn't say anything. Guess I'll never be able to get him to talk. I sighed, back to boring old Itachi.

I heard a rustle to my left, and glanced at it for a moment, then turned back. Probably just a traveler...then again we could use some money. I looked back, and saw a black figure of no particular shape glide the opposite way. I watched it, until it fell to the ground. "Hey Itachi..." Itachi began to grind his teeth. "Didn't I tell you to dr-" "No, no. Look..." I pointed towards where the figure had collapsed.

We walked over to the spot, and looked for the black figure. Finally, I spotted it nearby. "Why are we looking for this again?" Itachi growled, paranoid. "He might have some money on him," I replied; gaining excitement. He sighed, and we made our way through the terrain to the blob. "How do you know it's even human?" Itachi snapped, tapping it with his food.

I just shruged, and prodded it with Samahada. He was getting very excited indeed. This means it was in fact human. "Oh...the sword," Itachi mumbled. Just then, the tarp stirred, and I snatched Samahada away. "Looks like it's still alive...no matter." Itachi smirked a little as I raised Samahada above my head. Just as I was about to make contact with the thing, it leapt out of the way.

~Sumi's POV~

I jumped away as I heard something come near my body. I'm glad I did, because I heard a large crash as whatever it was hit the forest floor. "Who are you and what do you want!?" I yelled from under the tarp. The one time I try and rest, I get attacked. Just my luck. "Hey...Kisame...it's a girl," I heard a smooth, cold voice chuckle darkly. "Answer me!!" I yelled, reaching for the kantana I took form the Mist nin.

"Oy, that's no way to talk to someody who could kill you right now," I heard a deep voice snap. I raised an eyebrow. More ninjas huh? I slid the tarp off, and stared my attackers down. They both wore black cloaks with a red cloud designs, and looked like deadly oponents. The one on the left had light blue skin, teeth like knives, a huge sword, and was monsterously tall. The second one had normal appeal with his pale skin and black hair, except his eyes were as red as mine--with what I recognized as a sharingan.

"I highly doubt that you'd be able to kill me," I sneered. I'm such an idiot. The black haired one's brow furrowed, and before I knew it; he was at my right with his kantana in hand. I did not move, and kept my expression blank. He slid his weapon across my skin, and I disappeared in a puff of smoke.

"Tsk," the raven boy hissed, clamping his jaw. I was under the other one, my neck perfectly in tact. Thankyou so much Tsuki I thought as I grabbed for the blue one's legs. He barely got away, and I shot out of the ground. I jumped quickly as he swung his huge sword. I stopped dead.

I felt a great pulse as my chakra was wiped from my body. I fell to my hands and knees, tumbling to avoid another attack from the black haired one. Two against one isn't fair... I dodged another attack from the blue one's sword. "I'm getting tired of this!!" he yelled. Forming a water hand sign, he opened his mouth and water erupted from it.

The water filled the entire area, and I sat there, holding my breath. The two were standing outside the water's barrier. "Kisame..." the black haired one said angrily. "She was being bothersome...anyway you can't over use that sharingan of yours now can you Itachi?" Kisame laughed, wiping his mouth. Itachi looked annoyed, but then released his jutsu; leaving his eyes as black as coal.

"She'll be dead soon..." Kisame laughed. He picked up my bag, and reached inside. I screamed, slamming around. "Keep your hands off my stuff you nosey fish stick!!" I screeched, kicking at the wall of water. Kisame narrowed his eyes, then smiled evilly as he picked out my stuff. He pulled out my food, weapons, and clothes. I bit my lip, causing it to bleed "Oh! What's this?" he said, picking up the fox and the fire lily.

"Put them back!! They're not yours!! I'll kill you!!" I yelled, going into a tantrum. "You should really try and improve your water prison jutsu so we can't hear them complain," Itachi sighed, now examining the fire lily. I thrashed around, kicking as hard as I could. "PLEASE!!!" I wailed, "They're all I have left of them!!" I felt the bubbles of my tears float around. Itachi rolled his eyes, "Oh really...? Who is they?"

I could feel the heat race to my face. "None of your business!!" He smiled evily. "Well then...I guess you won't mind if I just-" He threw it at a nearby tree, and the figure dented the wood. I was about to scream, but I was our of air. "Ooh...Itachi check out the pretty flower..." Kisame laughed, holding Tsuki's flower. I watched in horror as he crushed it in his palm.

I watched them rip the flower to shreds...and I couldn't stop myself. I sent my chakra though my skin, and though I hadn't waited the full 72 hours to use it, I dealt with the pain. The chakra enveloped my body, and evaporated the water aorund me. I fell to the ground on all fours, arching my back ready to attack. Kisame and Itachi jumped slightly.

"Another Jinchuriki?" Kisame asked Itachi, who shook his head. "No...she's part of the Higashi clan. They can mimic the jinchuriki's power...but not without dire consequences." Itachi turned towards me, and removed his cloak. "Isn't that right...?"

I roared in anger.

~Itachi's POV~

The girl before me screamed in rage, the purple chakra envoloping her body. She hadn't reached the stage where her skin is burnt off, but she was pretty close. "You're actually pretty advanced for your years..." I laughed. Another blood-curtling scream, and she was ragin my way. I quickly took my kantana out; blocking her attack. "Kisame!" I yelled. He nodded, and charged with his sword. The Samahada can soak up any chakra...and it seemed to favor hers.

Samahada endulged on the purple surrounding the girl, but it seemed to have little effect. If it made a hole in the sheild, the chakra just grew back. "Crap..." I muttered, jumping away before she broke my sword. And I really didn't want to fight for a few days. Stupid Kisame. We exchanged quick eye contact, and I activated my sharingan.

"Tsukiyomi! The Nightmare Realm!" I screamed, and she froze. Staring at me with her eerie mask, being sucked into the alternate reality. Then, in an instant, we were in my world. The sky blood red, and the clouds black. She stood there, alone in the emptiness, and I watched from the skies. She couldn't seem to find me, and I just shook my head. What a dissapointment.

I began to activate my jutsu further, exposing her fears in the shape they took. I was appauled to see hundereds of dead bodies, lying on the floor, surrounding her. She screamed, and backed away. Tripping over another body that make her scream even louder. "TSUKI!!" The shriek filled my ears, and I turned away.

Something about her reminded me of Sasuke's reaction. "M-mom!? D-dad!?!" she cried, and I clamped my eyes shut. "Sumi..." I heard a low drone that caused me to switch around. "Sumi...why didn't you stop us...? Why..." It was the bodies; they started crawling towards her, trying to grab her.

Her yells were deafening now. "I-I-I...!! N-no!! I didn't-I-I killed them!! I...avanged you..." Her voice faded out. She stopped, standing still. "I...risked my life...I did all I could," I heard her whisper. My eyebrows shot up. Was she rising up against her fears? That she was. "I have nothing to feel bad about...and you're...not even real." I stood up. How could she-?

In a flash, she was beside me. "I can't hurt you in this realm I know..." she said coolly. "But..." She placed her hand on my shoulder. "I don't really want to." I just stared ta her, my expression blank. "And...why is that?" I asked, not understanding her. Her name's Sumi right?

Sumi smiled lightly, and then sat down. I just looked at her in disbelief. "You made me relise something...I have nothing to really feel bad about." She shot me a look under her enclosed face. "So I guess it makes up for the trouble you've caused me...though I can't say the same for your friend."

Then, we were back in the real world.

~Kisame's POV~

The both of them collapsed as they returned from Itachi's realm. I'd been in there once, and it was a horrible place to be. I almost felt sorry as I looked at the girl, who lay motionless--back to normal--on the forest floor. I jogged over to Itachi, offering my hand. To my suprise, he took it. "That girl..." he weezed. I felt an electric shock move through my body. Her soul isn't shattered?

I steadied Itachi, who kept his gaze on the girl. "Sumi..." I looked to Itachi as though he had just said he loved puppies. "Would you like to come with us?" I dropped my arms, causing Itachi to stumble. "Hey Kisame. try and not drop me, huh?" I just looked at him, my jaw hung open. "What the hell happened!? One moment you're swearing to kill her, and the next you're-" The next words were stuck in my throat.

Sumi--as Itachi had called her--rolled onto her back. "I've got nowhere else to go..." she mumbled. Now that I saw her when she wasn't attacking; she was kinda hot. I just wish I could see her face. She got to her feet, trying to regain her footing, and shuffled over to her bag. She sat next to it, the remains of the torn up flower in her hand. She rubbed a few sraps between her thumb and index finger. I heard her sigh, and she tossed her stuff back into her bag.

So then we set off.

~Sumi's POV~
I'd been walking with Kisame and Itachi for days, and not a word was uttered after our first-and last-conversation. It was just about my joining the organization Akatsuki. After a few minutes of thinking about it, I said I didn't want to join. Itachi understood, but said that I could still stay if I offered my hand. Since I had nowhere else to go, I agreed.

I knew perfectly well that Akatsuki was an evil organization well before I met them, since I am a ninja. But I never dreamed of associating with it. But things change. I was a bit angry when I found out about what they were, but then they explained their organization a bit further. Actually, it made just as much sense as any of the other village's way of thinking. I just don't approve of the murders they had to do to get it.

Kisame bragged about how he killed his entire village, which made me dislike him even more. Him being from the Mist just sealed the deal. Itachi just said he killed some people. I detected a bit of sorrow in his voice, but I didn't press the issue.

My stomache growled loudly, and reached back into my bag. "Hey, how about sharing some of your food?" Kisame laughed. I rolled my eyes, my signature move, and opened a bag of chips. Taking each chip individually, I hate them slowly; making noise as I need. Kisame stuck his tounge out, and Itachi just kept walking. He doesn't talk much, by what I analysed.

Tossing a bag to each of them, I crumpled up my own. "How long is it gonna take to get there?" I was very sore from walking, and I was starting to run low on food. Kisame thought about it for a minute, and crumpling his bag--wow he eats fast--he responded. "About another day or two...Why? Are your feet tired?" Suprisingly, he didn't say it jokingly.

I looked the other way. "Kinda but I'm fi-" Before I knew it, he had thrown me over his shoulder. "What the-Put me down!!" I yelled, thrashing around. "Your feet hurt. Plus you were slowing us down anyway." I turned scarlet. "Sh-shuddap!!" I complained over his shoulder. He ignored me, and nudged Itachi. "Let's go." And like a bullet, we were flying.

~Itachi's POV~

When we leapt off the grond, out of the corner of my eye, I saw Sumi cling to Kisame's jacket. "Don't let go, Don't let go, Don't let gooooo!!!" she howled into his back. I held back the need to laugh, and kept moving. Kisame was right, she really was slowing us down. Then again, we never asked her to speed up. "Kisame!!" I turned to see that he had let her go, and she had wrapped her arms around his neck to stay on.

"S-seriously I hate heights!!" I started laughing, and Kisame looked at me with an amused look. I tried to stop, but ended up laughing even harder. He joined in, and Sumi started to get pissed, though not enough to get off and walk at her own pace. I looked at Kisame, and we both nodded.

He started to land on each tree branch with exageration, faking a few falls, making comments like, "Woah, that was a close one." or "Almost fell!" Sumi was soon so scared that she started hiccuping. She clamped her eyes shut, screaming into Kisame's chest to put her down. Eventually this got kind of boring, and we slowed down drastically.

As we hit the earth again, Sumi slid off Kisame, shaking. "I'm g-going to kill you..." she spat through gritted teeth. I picked her up by her arm. "Speed up now?" She turned her head, crossing her arms. Such a child. "Kisame?" She snapped back to me, eyes wide with terror. "Alright then." I late her go, and set down my pack. "We're 5 miles away, so let's take a break." I felt her astonishment seep through my skin.

"To answer you, yes. You're THAT slow."

~Pein's POV~

I felt Kisame and Itachi's prescence not too far from my lair. But they were not alone, they seemed to be accompanied by another person. Haven't I told them not to bring people here without my premission!? I really need to emphasise this more often... I looked around my office. Dark and musty as usual. Oh well. I sighed and got out of my chair. I'd better get the others.

They'll help me greet our guest.

~Sumi's POV~

I'll kill them... I can't believe they did that to me. Such heartless people. I smiled a bit. "I'll get you back, you wait and see..." My aura was a bit dark and vicious. But I was chuckling making it all the more creepy. Kisame sort of edged away, perhaps afraid I would infect him. Itachi just smirked, and put up his water. After packing everything, we walked the rest of the way. The entire time, I was in front, trying to walk as fast as possible.

Itachi and Kisame stopped, and I did too after walking a few steps. "We here?" I asked, puzzled. Itachi and Kisame were on either side of me in a flash, kunai out. "No." A rain of weapons rained down, and we quickly manuevered our way around them. Kantana out now, I held on tightly as a red haired boy--looking about my age--struck with robust. I struggled to keep him away, but prevailed with a quick slash to the arm. He jumped back.

Kisame and Itachi were holding back oppenents too. Itachi was face-to-face with a blonde man who looked so much like a girl it would have been funny had we not the current situation. Kisame, on the other hand, had a very creepy-looking opponent. This one wore a mask and head covering, so that only his black and red eyes shone.

I turned around just in time to block an attack from another man. This one had silver hair, and purple, joyous eyes. Two against one again? The silver head jumped back, reaching for the 3-scicled scyth that was hanging around his body. The red head opened a large scroll, which seemed to be a summoning scroll, and in a puff of smoke, 20 puppets were let loose.

"Now it's 22 vs 1!? Jeez you guys don't fight fair at all!" I yelled, dodging the puppets as they came left and right. "HAHA!! JASHIN-SAMA WILL BE PLEASE WITH MY SACRIFICE!!" The silver man screamed, swinging wildly. I avoided it narrowly, and fell in the dirt. "Hidan, shut up will you?" Kisame's opponent grumbled. Hidan pointed at him "YOU shuddap!! You're just a stupid old man!" I would have laughed, but another set of puppets came crashing down.

The red haired man didn't speak, but focoused on controlling his 'pets'. I was amazed at how many he could control. I've gone against a few puppet masters, but never have I met one who could control so many. Hidan came back again, and I escaped, though he scratched my arm. I looked at my arm, which was healing already, thanks to Tsuki's ribbon.

I smiled, and twirled to escape yet another puppet. But then, everything stopped. The red head put his toys away, and Kisame and Itachi were frozen. They all stared at me. I just looked around. "Uhmm...?" I was so confused, "am I in some sort of genj-" I was interupted by maniacal laughter. I turned to see Hidan, skin black and white, standing in a circle of blood.

"Did you...? You emo!! You cut yourself!!" I screamed, pointing at the stab wound in his hand. He grinned. "You're so screwed." He took his scyth, and stabbed himself in the stomache. The pain shot through me like a locomotion; and I toppled over. "What the fuck!!" I screamed, grabbing my bleding abdomen. Hidan laughed louder. "YOU SEE JASHIN-SAMA!? I HAVE DONE THIS FOR YOU!!" I looked up at him, why wasn't he writhing in pain?

"You're insane!!" I snarled, staggering to my feet. He stopped his ranting, and stared at me. "I-HOW THE HELL ARE YOU STILL ALIVE!?!" I just stood there, gazing at him. "How are you!?" We both stared each other down. He took his scyth, and stabbed him self 4 times in the leg. Screaming out, I grabbed my leg and watched it heal again. He kept stabbing himself, making me scream.

The others just watched in amazement as both of us stayed conscious through the intense pain. "ENOUGH!!" Hidan roared, and he took his scyth and cut off his head. With a burst of blood, my head fell off, and rolled into the dirt.

~Kisame's POV~

"Sumi!!" I screamed as her head toppled to the ground. Pushing Kakuzu out of the way, I ran over to the place where her head lay. "Owowowow..." I heard her voice groan into the dirt. "That-that....What IS he!?"

~Sumi's POV~

"That huuuurts!!" I whined as Kakuzu sewed my head back on. "Oi! You don't here me bitchin'!" Hidan yelled, his head still rolling on the ground. My mask was still on my face, and I thanked the gods for that. I'd hate to have these freaks stare at my strange eyes...no matter how strange they were in turn.

I stuck my tounge out, though he couldn't see. "You're used to it!! What the crap's wrong with you anyway!?! Who cuts their head off!" I felt a twinge of pain. "Nyaa! Don't be so rough, I've just been decapitated!" Kakuzu grabbed me by the hair, holding me in place. "Quit your whining and stand still."

I watched him out of the corner of my eye. Jesus christ he was even creepier up close. The tendants emmiting from his fingertips cut off, leaving my neck looking like a rag doll. "Okay, I'm done." Kakuzu stood up, and worked his shoulders, and I turned my neck; making sure it stayed on. "OY!OY!OY! WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN 'I'M DONE'!? YOU STILL HAVE TO SEW ME BACK UP YOU ASS!!" Hidan screamed, rolling around in the dirt.

I covered my mouth, trying to stifle the laughter. Kakuzu looked at him, a cold expression on his face. "I told you last time that that was the final time I'd sew you up...Unless of course, you pay me." He laughed darkly, tapping Hidan's head with his toe.

"YOU SON OF A-" I covered Hidan's mouth with my hand. "You're giving me a headache." I felt him try and bite my palm, and I smashed his head onto the ground. "Don't bite me!!" I yelled. Kakuzu held my head still. "For the next few days, don't move so much." Kisame came over and examined my neck."Oh, speaking of which Kisame-san, yeah..." Deidara stated.

Kisame looked over his shoulder, "What?" Deidara grinned, "You seemed upset about Sumi here being decapitated, yeah. A bit too upset if you ask-" Kisame punched Deidara in the face. "Sh-shut up you little punk!!" Deidara rubbed his face, "Jeez...I was just kidding, yeah. Why are you getting all defensive?" Kisame turned a faint shade of purple.

I crossed my arms. "Just because he has human emotions and feels bad when somebody gets beheaded doesn't mean anything. And what's wrong with you? You keep saying 'yeah' at the end of all your sentences." Deidara's eyes narrowed. "Nothing, I just talk that way, yeah." I screamed 'YEAH' when he said it, and Kisame snickered.

Deidara stood up, grabbing me by the shirt. "You don't think I'd kill you, yeah!?" he yelled in my face. I though about removing my mask and spitting in his face, but I still didn't feel comfortable about my eyes...

So instead I kicked him in the crouch.

~Deidara's POV~

I let Sumi go, grabbing my crouch. "I'll fucking kill you, yeah!!" I took a swing at her, and hit her mask's cheek. I heard it crack, and a chunk fell off; exposing the lower left side of her face. She screamed, and covered her face with her arms. "Yo Deidara, cut the crap and get this ass to sew me up!" Hidan yelled at me. I ignored him, and pushed on Sumi's side.

"What? Don't want anybody to see that ugly face of yours, yeah?" Itachi came from behind me, grabbing my neck. "Urk--Let me go!!" I yelled, grabbing his neck as well. I relised something, and smiled devishly. So these two like Sumi eh? I wonder what happened between them while they got here...I snickered at the thought.

Itachi's grip tightened at my laugh. "What--might I ask--is so amusing?" he snarled. I bit him with the mouth on my palm, and he released his grip, holding his bleeding neck. The others watched in silent intrest as the Uchiha and I fought.

"Just that you and Gills are so friendly with ugly over there." I gestured towards Sumi. "I was wondering what happened on your trip over here...and if she'd let you guys--you know" I raised my eyebrows suggestively, "--then she'd definately let me." I saw Kisame and Itachi's mouths drop in disbelief.

The others laughed, except for Sasori; who just held his face in his hands, contemplating the fight. Sumi just froze. She didn't even breathe. Slowly, her head rose from her arms. The mask was cracking even more, and I could see part of her eye. Was it red? "Hm? Did I get it right? Did they tell you to keep the mask on, yeah?"

~Sumi's POV~

I put my hand on my mask, and gently pulled it off. The ribbon in my hair faltered slightly, and I pulled it out too, letting my hair loose. Deidara's eyes widened. "I only kept the mask on...because I hate the look people give me when they look into my eyes," I snarled, rising to my feet. I went over to Deidara, and stood in front of him, looking into his eyes.

My blood red eyes shone with a venomous anger, and my ebony skin contrasted with the scarlet locks of my hair. I glared at him, with the most intimidation I could muster; and I felt him glare back, trying to return the favor.

He stared back, unable to make his eyes threatening. It wasn't because he wasn't intimidating, but because they were just so gorgeously blue...like Sudo's. I snapped back, and stumbled backwards.  I have to change my train of thought, quickly!

"AAAH!!!" I heard Hidan scream from behind me. "Watch it!! You almost fell on me you--" I picked him up by the head. "You really are annoying..." I said, bouncing his head in my hands.

I giggled, and threw him higher. "What the fuck are you doing you crazy biiiitch!!" He was a good 20 feet in the air now. "Ummm?" Everybody was looking at me oddly, watching as I tossed a talking--excuse me SCREAMING--head into the air. "What?" I said, catching Hidan again. He had passed out, and his mouth was hanging open.

"What's with the sudden change in mood?" Kisame asked, staring at Hidan's unconsious head. "N-no reason!" I answered quickly, turning around and throwing Hidan again. I needed to get Sudo off my mind. Even if I didn't feel guilty; I still felt sad about his death. I didn't want them to see me cry, like Itachi had. No.

I stopped throwing Hidan in the air, and held him close to my face, examining him. His eyes opened slightly, and as soon as he saw me he yelled. It scared the living crap out of me! I dropped him onto the ground. "D-don't do that!" I whined, holding my heart. "THAT'S MY LINE!" He screamed.

"Hey, we'd better get to Leader and explain the situation." Sasori drolled, speaking above the two of us. "Kisame, Itachi; he did not seemed to pleased to have a surprise guest," Kakuzu said, glancing at the two of them. Kisame started yelling, "Blame HIM!! He's the dumbass who came out of Tsukiyomi, totally cool with her!!" He jabbed his index finger at Itachi.

Itachi was the center of everybody's--except mine--stares. "What the hell are you all looking at?" He said, his voice like venom. "Well...you can do ANYTHING to your target in your realm right? We just think you-" I stamped my foot. "OH COME ON!! I'm not some easy chick you can just use like a $10 hankercheif!! I have STANDARDS! And WHY do you always jump to that conclusion!?!"

"I don't know...we're guys," Kisame shrugged, and turned towards where I guessed the hideout was. Itachi followed, and Kakuzu picked up Hidan's head. "Sumi, since you made him cut off his head, pick up his body." I moaned, and turned my head.

I looked over in disgust at Hidan's unmoving body.

Jeez, that had been me a few minutes ago. I went over, and put his arm around my shoulder. Sasori walked behind me, and whispered in my ear, "Sorry about trying to kill you...but you should fix my puppets. You broke quite a few of them." I turned around, but he swivled in front of me, walking with a smug look on his face.

Deidara didn't pay attention to anything at all, but as he walked he continuously looked at me. I felt very uncomfortable, and not just because I was carrying a 'kind-of-dead' body on my back. So the others walked ahead of me as I struggled to carry Hidan. "You really need to loose weight, you're really--OH MY GOD!" I fell over, Hidan's dead body pinning me down. I flailed my arms. After my failed attempt to escape, I hit my head into the dirt. "I fell."

~Hidan's POV~

The laughter form the rest of us was deafening as we watched Sumi struggle to move out from under my body. Even though the stinging in my neck was still present, I mocked Sumi. "You're so WEAK!" Sumi flicked me off, and tried again to free herself.

"Helping me would be nice!!" she yelled, pounding her fists into the dirt. "Who said we were nice?" Kakuzu said, laughing his strangly normal-sounding laugh. We just stood there--I kind of hung--and waited for Sumi to get a move on. She managed to flip over after 10 minutes, and tried to queeze out of her trap. No luck.

No matter how much time passed, this was still funny. I just stared at her, laughing harder and harder at her feeble attempts to get up. Finally she gave up, and layed there, on her back, her hands covering her face. Then, she started laughing too. "I'm so stupid!!" She laughed, unable to help herself.

Shocked as we were that she was laughing at this, we couldn't stop the urge to explode. Eventually, Sasori got bored and walked over to pull her out. "You REALLY couldn't push him off?" Sumi looked up at him, and I swear to god I saw him blush.

I wouldn't blame him. There infront of him, was a young, hot girl pinned to the ground looking up at him with an innocent expression across her face. "Enjoying the view Sasori!?" I yelled, earning more laughs from the others. Sasori through a large rock at my head, and hit me square in the jaw. "Sheesh..."

~Kakuzu's POV~

"Hurry uuuuuup!" Hidan complained. His head had stopped bleeding, but he still whined and compained. "Why are we taking so loooong!?" he cried, his head swinging. "Because Sumi won't hurry up," I replied, fed up with his bickering. "Well SOR-RY! I just so happen to be carrying a 157 pound man on my back!!" Sumi yelled from behind.

"Well why don't you put your skills to use. I mean, you can't be an associate if you're weak," Itachi replied, stating what was to me the obvious. Sumi huffed, "Well I used up a lot of my chakra fighting you two, then Sasori and Hidan, and then having my neck heal! Sorry if I'm not the monster I fight like!" I looked at Itachi. He shrugged, "I'll explain once we get there. But I agree, you're too slow Sumi. Kisame?" Kisame smiled, and walked up to Sumi.

He towards over her, and the look on her face was a mix of fear and shock. Suddenly, she was running extremely fast, Hidan's body dragging in the dirt. "HEY!! Be careful with my body will ya? I kinda need that!" Hidan yelled. I stared at Kisame. "What--?" Kisame smiled. "Let's just say she's afraid of heights." Sumi was out of site now, but not out of earshot. "Which way do I go!?!"

~Sumi's POV~

Gasping for air, I colapsed in front of the hide out's enterance. I was on the ground, panting while the others unsealed the doorway. "Man...it's been a long time since we've all been here at once..." Deidara muttered for the first time since we left the patch of woods earlier. "Come on," Sasori ordered, nodding me inside. "Noooo...I wanna lay here for the rest of my natural life....!" I moaned.

He sighed deeply. "I guess I'll carry him the rest of the way...but you still have to get up." I looked up at him. "Th-thankyou!!" I smiled widely, happy that he was treating me nicely. "Yeah yeah...now you'll have to clean my other puppets as well." I knew there was a catch. But still, he was generous; and I'd learn the mechanics of the puppets for a possible later battle.

"So much happens in one week, I swear," I sighed, rising to my feet.

~Pein's POV~

I was quite surprised to see that girl survive after having her head cut off. Was she also immortal? No. I noticed something whilst she was fighting. She was wearing a ribbon with a high concentration of chakra. I've seen them before; but this one seemed to been inhansed past healing the user. It keeps the subject in which living until it is removed. I wonder if she knows the value of it... Probably, but to what extent?

This could be fun...

~Deidara's POV~

I was very cautious around Sumi, watching her every move. She was gorgeous, no doubt, but I was definately not going to let her know that. So far, I hate her attitude...and I want her to suffer. Maybe I should look at her like she's ugly...I peeked over at her through my hair. Oh yes...she did mention not liking her eyes!

Staring at her eyes as we walked dow the long, dark hallway with the others, I tried to look disgusted. After several minutes of unblinkin glaring, she finally noticed, and looked at me strangly. "What are you looking at Blondie?" she asked, sticking out her tounge.

"Your eyes are really gross me out, yeah." Sumi stopped dead, and looked at me. Her eyes softened, and she opened her mouth to speak. But then she closed them.

"What are you two doing back there?" Kisame called. Jogging casually, I did not make any eye contact with Sumi. She just lurched forward, eyes on her feet. Looks like I really hit a blow! I smirked, feeling satisfied. I didn't even notice that Itachi was watching me intently.

~Itachi's POV~

What is he smiling about? I turned my attention to Sumi, who was walking as though she was a zombie. My voice like fingernails scraping across a chalkboard, I whispered harshly in Deidara's ear. "What did you say to Sumi?" My voice was low, and very audible. But that made it all the more intimidating.

Deidara's smile grew wide. "Nooothing..." he said, trying to exaderate the fact he was 'trying' to be innocent when he very well wasn't. I hardened my gaze. "You lie..." He kept his face ahead, but leaned his head to mine, and replied, "...your point...?"

~Konan's POV~

Pein told me to be prepared for a guest, and I was thrilled to see that it was a girl. "FINALLY!! Somebody who isn't a guy!" I cooed, grasping her hands in mine. She giggled, though I felt it was forced. A quick look over the guys, and I felt Itachi and Deidara grimance. "So...umm...What's going on...?" The girl said, using a jazz hands, and smiling uneasily. I laughed lightly. "I have no clue...To be honest, you have 3 possibilities for being here."

I held up 3 fingers. "One, you could be here to join." She shook her head. "Okay, then number 2. Ha!" We both snickered. I saw her glance around, but the others had left for their rooms. "Okay, 2, you could be here on business." She just shrugged. "I'm not wuite sure if I'm somebody who's used for S-Rank Criminal deals," She joked.

"Well that leaves 3. You could know too much, and you may be here to be killed."

~Sumi's POV~

"Wh-WHAT!?" I screamed, staring at the blue haired girl before me. "I-I-I JUST GOT MY BLOODY HEAD CUT OFF!!" I flailed my arms. I always did that when I was trying to emphasis something. "I'VE HAD MY SHARE OF NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCES, HALF OF THEM TODAY!" I screeched.

It was true. even though I was a Jounin, I only just became one two months prior to now.
